Qigong for Health and Wellbeing
Qigong (chi kung) is a traditional Chinese health and healing system which uses movement and breathing exercises to promote vitality, reduce stress and enhance our wellbeing.t is believed to have been practised for around 5000 years and millions of people around the world enjoy the benefits of practising qigong daily.
Qigong improves the flow of energy throughout the body and benefits the circulation as well as building stamina and aiding flexibility in the joints. The movements are easy to learn and enjoyable to practice and even a few minutes of qigong can have a rejuvenating effect on body and mind. It is practised with a light heart and can have a positive effect on our spirits.
I have had the privilege of training in qigong with The Tai Chi, Qigong & Feng Shui Institute and Living Essence and am grateful for the teaching that has been shared with me.
We work with a popular form called Shibashi which blends the standing postures of qigong with the flowing movements of Tai Chi. It’s a beautiful set of 18 movements that can be practised anywhere. There is a video link below to the form that we use, demonstrated by our lineage teacher Master Wing Cheung:
